What is Winning Ways?

Most church leaders want their churches to reach out. Most church leaders want to tackle the challenges of outreach, impact, growth.

The problem is many of us go about it the wrong way.

We try to find 'magic bullet' solutions. We copy what worked in the church across the road, or the church across the Atlantic. We set up committees of the keen, we launch programmes, we hire in professionals.

But short-term fixes never produce long-term results. It just doesn't work that way.

WinningWays isn't about easy answers. It doesn't offer simple, off-the-shelf solutions. It's about a joined-up, grown-up approach to mission.

We've found that if a church is going to succeed in reaching out effectively, then three basic questions need to be answered:

How do we develop an effective strategy for the whole of church life?

How do we train leaders at every level of church to think, act and lead missionally?

How do we equip every member in the church for natural outreach?

WinningWays helps leaders find answers to these critical questions.

Evangelism doesn't work as a 'bolt-on' to church life. It has to be a holistic part of the way we do church, the way we are, the culture we create. And that makes it a leadership issue. Effective evangelism can only happen with effective leaders.

As well as missional leadership from the top down, effective outreach requires missional leadership at the grass roots. Evangelism is more often caught than taught. Every church needs to develop catalysts and champions for outreach right at the heart of church life.

Of course, it takes more than just great strategy and developed leaders to bring growth to a church. It takes members that are confident and competent in sharing their faith. The vast majority of people come to faith because of a relationship with a Christian, or group of Christians.
